YIELD Work Shop

Originally opened as “Obscura” in the spring of 2017, our first foray into retail was later rebranded “YIELD WORK SHOP” for better continuity with our brand. The shop was our first and only experiment in brick and mortar retail and it was open for roughly 3 years, closing in the early days of covid.

We experienced a number of ups and downs over the few years we operated, but we came to view the project as an overall success and an invaluable learning experience. Through direct feedback and interaction with customers, we were able to get real time insights into what was resonating and what needed improvement. We were inspired to build entire categories of product including our candles, incense, and scented goods after seeing customers in store take to our early test offerings.

  • January 2017 - March 2017 Buildout

"Yield Work Shop Is a Design Oasis in St. Augustine, Florida"

- Bon Appetit

This edgy design boutique, started by a couple from San Francisco, is a shrine to minimalism. You won't find their wares crammed into the space but things such as 3D-printed/gold cast rings, coffee presses, copper light fixtures and gorgeous totes are artfully and sparingly arranged in order to fully appreciate their craftsmanship. The store is packed with their own handmade goods, as well as those of other local makers.

Before / After

Though Yield Work Shop churns out glasses, tables, incense, pour-over set-ups, and more, it's only comprised of about eight employees. Gant and Deming design it all. Their newly redesigned retail store is a beautiful curation of their products, in-house candle production, and a thoughtful selection of other designers’ goods.
